Jacob Overby

A native to East Texas, and an Arkansas Razorbacks fan, Jacob was first introduced to camp sitting in class his sophomore year at Ouachita Baptist University.  After taking the bait to apply for summer staff, he joined the T Bar M family at Camp Travis in 2007 (Stamp'd).

Upon graduation, he continued his education at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, located on the campus of Baylor University. After a two year (summer) hiatus, a phone call from Mark Kaufmann in the spring of 2010 brought Jacob back to camp to serve on the leadership team the next four summers (2010-2013).  Following what he concluded was his last summer at camp (2013), Jacob took a job as a youth pastor in Houston, TX.

It was that same summer, 2013, when Jacob was reintroduced to Kara (then, Wagner), who had returned to summer staff for the first time since 2008 to serve in the Rio at Camp Travis. Each caught the other's attention, and after a friend discretely paired the two as partners in a staff disc golf tournament, the rest was history. They dated, were engaged and married not even a year later in May of 2014.

Six months into marriage, God made it evident that the Overby's were not finished at T Bar M. He paved the way from Houston to New Braunfels as Jacob was hired as the Discover252 Director in November of 2014. Jacob and Kara are thrilled for the adventure ahead as they come alongside summer staff and take Christ-centered adventure to churches and communities all over Texas.
