Timothy Team Program (for both male & female)
*Applications are now open for the 2019-20 season.
A year-long experience you'll draw on for a lifetime.
Timothy Team is a year-long program geared to disciple and equip young people, through study and practice, with lifelong tools so that they may continually grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. It's an intense year of deep, intentional growth in a team-based environment in an adventurous and fun setting.
It's an experiential program designed to alter the trajectory of spiritual growth in order to be more like Jesus Christ.
Come and see.
Timothy Team members are trained and certified to work with children and adults of all ages as Adventure Educators and Challenge Course Facilitators for our non-summer retreat business. The Timothy Team will lead groups through team-building exercises, high-ropes challenges, and over-the-top programming, all while putting into practice the lessons God is teaching you on the Team. The year is completed serving at one of our four summer camps as a leader among your peers, applying all that you've learned during the year. This work experience is a unique set of skills valuable to integrate with any future vocation.
T Bar M Camps is nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill-Country, where fun abounds and adventure is around every corner. As a Timothy Teamer, you're a member of a team of people who agree to live life together for a year. Teams of the past have enjoyed spontaneous roadtrips, beach vacations, white-water rafting, spelunking, backpacking, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking ... camp is your backyard and the Hill-Country is your oyster.
The Timothy Team's curriculum is centered around Matthew 22:37-40 which states, "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind.
From our significance in Christ to a greater understanding of prayer and meditation, you will be able to choose tools that can be used throughout your lifetime. Weekly group discussions, mentor relationships, accountability, daily scripture reading, and in-depth spiritual discipline studies all contribute to a holistic curriculum designed to deepen your relationship with God in a personal and intimate way.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
The second part of the curriculum concentrates on our relationship with others. From family to acquaintances, we explore the role we have as Christians to those around us. Topics include servant hood, evangelism, stewardship, spiritual gifts, missions and other relevant issues. Real life applications are experienced as we go out into the New Braunfels community, Texas, and into the world and minister to those around us.
All materials are supplied throughout the program, which results in an extensive personal library.
As a part of our daily scripture readings, we look at God's Word as a story, from the Garden all the way to our current lives and time in the world. As a part of that study, we travel to Israel, the Promised Land, and walk where Jesus walked. It's within the setting of the Bible that we're able to obtain a deeper understanding of God's Word and apply it to our lives.**Please note the trip to Israel is not a guaranteed part of the curriculum. Though the year is spent in preparation for Israel, safety conditions are always considered right up to the day of travel.
In addition to the Israel trip, mission trips are taken during the year to bring the Gospel to a country where the vehicle of Camp is used to share Jesus's love with His people. Teams in the past have visited South and Central American countries, African countries, and European countries. Where each team travels will be determined throughout the year as we discern where God is sending each unique team.
Spend your days 30 feet in the air leading teams through our Challenge Course. Lead groups down the Guadalupe River. Brave the white waters of the Colorado River. Hike to the top of Enchanted Rock. All of these are potential experiences you could have while on the Team. And while these are great - the ultimate adventure comes from living life alongside fellow believers, enjoying authentic community, willing yourself to go wherever the Lord leads - we call it Christ-centered adventure.
Experience the full richness of living life in community. Put into practice daily loving God and loving others. It's alongside fellow believers, living life together as iron sharpening iron, dying to self, and putting others before yourself that leads to the immense growth that you'll experience when you allow God to be Lord of your life. Experience this fullness in the T Bar M community and the greater New Braunfels community as we live life on life for the glory of God.
John 15:4-11 says "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches, whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full."
How do we truly abide? What does that mean and how does that look in our daily lives? We spend the entire year learning and doing just that, living in the soil of Godliness so that we receive from Him everything we need to produce fruit.
Put yourself on a foundation to equip your Christian walk and amplify God's call on your life to be a disciple-maker and kingdom worker.
