Summer Theme, Packing Lists and Theme Nightsmore

Summer Theme

Each summer we have a camp theme. We build everything around the theme ... our summer song, our Bible studies and our nightly talks. You can read all about the theme here!

Theme Nights/Days

Theme Nights (or days for Day Camps!) are over-the-top exciting camp parties each evening ... campers dress to fit the theme for these crazy fun activities. Some repeat year-to-year (TRADITION!) but others change summer-to-summer. Check out this summer's theme nights/days. You can also view a MOM-to-MOM guide on what to do about costumes for these theme extravaganzas.

Opening Daymore

Sports Camp

Catch a glimpse of opening day from the perspective of this camp mom.

Pre-Opening Activities (1:45pm - 2:30pm):

Expect a lot of energy when you arrive Sunday afternoon starting at 1:45pm.  You will be welcomed on the perimeter road with a parking crew pointing the way.

Once you drive under the T Bar M gate,  our staff will greet you at your car and inform you  what cabin your camper(s) are in, how we will handle your camper's luggage and where you should park.

Once parked, you will be instructed to head to the Sports Center.   Different from prior years, you are welcome to enjoy activities on the fields and even head on back to your camper's cabin and meet their Coach. You will see several special stations along the way. Be sure to stop at stations that apply to you. And don't fret if you don't make it back to the cabin before the formal ceremony begins at 2:30pm ... there will be plenty of time afterwards to your camper get settled in their cabin.

Stations:

First Time Camper Stop

Located in the Front Yard ... first-time campers get green beads to wear once they arrive at camp. This identifies you as a first-time camper and parent. Opening Day can be overwhelming during your first experience, so this will make our staff aware to point you in the right directions. Camper Bonus - it's your ticket into the exclusive first-time camper party where you'll learn what to expect and the lingo of camp!

Visit Nurse to drop off meds

Don't forget to review our medication policy. Camp Nurse stop is in the Sports Center.

Mail/Package Drop-off

"Parent's Last Stop" is a letter writing station with paper and pens available on Opening Day for you and your family. You are welcome to write as many messages as you like, and we will deliver them on the day of your choice.

Personal Packages: Some parents like or drop off small gifts on Opening Day for their campers while they are at camp. We will deliver these packages for you on the day of your choice. All gifts must be enclosed in an envelope no bigger than a standard 10x13 envelope. Please mark each envelope with your camper's name, cabin, session and delivery day (i.e. Susie Smith/Buffalo Gap/Session 3/Tuesday). Please note: Do not feel obligated to give personal packages. Not all parents do this.

Sports Specialty Changes

Specialties are the particular sport you selected for your camper to develop their skills. Meet our heads of specialties who are ready to answer any specialty related questions or make any needed changes. Sports Specialty stop is on the Sports Field near the cabins.

Information

How can we help you? This stop is to answer questions or unfinished business.

Camp Store

Purchase care packages or add money to your child's store account. Located in the Sports Center.

LOC's (6th graders) Only

LOCs (Leaders of Camp) are our campers who have completed the 6th grade. LOC parents must sign a Texas Ski Ranch Release Form. Look for the LOC Banner on the Sports Field near the Sanctuary.

Headed to Camp Travis?

Parents traveling to Camp Travis:  Our staff at the Headed to Camp Travis? booth will give you information regarding your travel plans to Camp Travis.  Plan on leaving Sports Camp around 3:15ish.  Camp Travis is one hour and 30 minutes down the road and the drop-off time is between 4:00 - 5:15pm.  Please note, unlike Sports Camp, Camp Travis drop-off is more like an actual drop-off, hug and go event.  This is more suited for your teen. :-)

Camp's Official Opening (2:30pm): Campers and their families will be directed to the Sports Field where they will meet their Coach and new cabin mates.

Camp Travis

4:00pm - 5:15pm:  Gate is open to check in your camper!

Please expect to be in your car 15 to 20 minitues AFTER passing the front gate.  A Director will have the opportunity to talk to each family before being directed to The Circle to unload your camper's luggage. Please note: This will be your time to say good-bye to your camper.  Why?  Because they will get out and meet their Coach when their luggage is unloaded from the car.  But don't fret parents ... you will have a chance to park the car and come to The Courthouse to visit the Camp Store, put money on your camper's store card and drop off mail.  You will also be able to visit the Camp Nurse at Doc Holiday's if your camper has medicine to be dropped off.

While you are making your last stops, your camper will be busy meeting their new cabin mates in The Circle.  You are welcome to give them one last hug before you head back home.

5:14pm: First camper activity!

Day Camp

On MONDAYS ONLY, check-in begins at 8:30am. As you arrive, coaches will direct you to a parking spot. Be ready to sign your child in and receive a wristband telling you and your child their team name. Come in comfy clothes and your coach will be ready to meet you!

For every following day, check-in is at 9:00am. You will be able to drop your child off at the entrance with the director (no parking necessary). If you arrive before 9:00am, please remain with your child until they have been checked in with a staff member.

** SHUTTLE PARENTS Check-in will happen at the shuttle stop.

During Campmore

Camp Lingo

T Bar M is a one-of-a-kind place with a unique language of our own! Here's a list to give you a head-start getting familiar with some words you'll hear around camp.

Coach
Your coaches are college students who have given up their summer to love on you! They are wildly fun, a bit out of control at times, but most importantly, they are devoted to you and making your week at camp the best ever.

MAC/WOG
This is a time at camp set apart for MACs (Men after Christ) to be men, and WOGs (Women of God) to be women. Here you'll gather with your gender to discuss, play and be encouraged in the way God specifically made you as a MAC or WOG.

Alpha/Omega
Camp is divided into two big teams Alphas (the red team) and Omegas (the blue team). Your team is assigned upon registration, and that's your team FOREVER! Your account profile will let you know which team you are on. Make sure to pack a red or blue t-shirt for Alpha/Omega competitions!

Sport Specialty
If you are a Sports Camp camper, you will spend two hours a day learning and playing in the sport specialty you've selected. (Camp Travis does not have sport specialties)

Cabin
If you've been in Texas for long, you might recognize a few of our cabin names. At Sports Camp, our cabins are named after Texas towns, and at Camp Travis, after Texas rivers. While your cabin is where you live at camp, your cabin also identifies the people you share camp with most closely. Cabin competitions and activities will bring you together and leave you with memories you'll cherish for a lifetime.

Batter's Box/ First Fruits
Each day at camp you will break up into smaller groups within your cabin to study and discuss God's word with one of your coaches. This time is called Batter's Box (Sports Camp) or First Fruits (Camp Travis).

FUAGNEM
FUAGNEM (FU-AG-NEM) is short for Fired Up And Going Nuts Every Minute!!! This word (or phrase) sums up the energy level we expect from our campers and coaches during crazy fun competition.

Theme Song
This is the song that we work hard to create that captures the spirit of each summer's theme. You'll know it by heart by the end of the week at camp. If you want to get a head start stay tuned to Facebook for the release of this year's theme! Our previous years' theme songs are available on iTunes as well.

Theme Nights
Camp wouldn't be camp without a few crazy clothes... Theme Nights are just a fun excuse to dress up! You don't have to buy expensive items to make these events work. A few extra accessories or a creative hand-made costume will add to your experience (and make for a great picture!)

Rio Grande/Chuckwagon
Camp Travis chows down at the Rio Grande, while Sports Camp grabs their vittles at the Chuckwagon

Main Thing/Team Meeting
Camp Travis gathers every evening for Main Thing, and Sports Camp ends their days with Team Meeting. Crazy skits, praise and worship, and lots of Truth Talkin' happens at these memorable gatherings.

The Screamer
Just one of many exciting high rope elements! This particular ropes adventure is located at the Sports Camp property.
